dijo Ud. que este Rosario está besado por la Santísima Virgen de Garabandal,
¿verdad? ¡Pues pienso en un milagro!
You’re telling me that this Rosary was kissed by the Most
Holy Virgin of Garabandal, isn’t it true? Well, I think it is a miracle!

de María Josefa Caballero y de Carmen García Geraldo de Hernández-Pinzón.
El
Padre Rodrigo conoce muy bien tanto a María Josefa como a la familia
Hernández-Pinzón y afirma que su relato es auténtico.
This is Fr. Lucio Rodrigo, S.J.’s story based on the letters from January 18, 1967, from María Josefa Cabellero and Carmen García Geraldo de Hernández-Pinzón.
Fr. Rodrigo is very well acquainted with María Josefa and the Hernández-Pinzón family, and he affirms that this story is authentic.

El
suceso ocurrió en Sevilla el 17 de enero del año 1967.
Las
protagonistas son la enfermera María Josefa Caballero, poseedora de un Rosario
regalo de Conchita en Garabandal, y Carmen García Geraldo, señora de
Hernández-Pinzón.
January 29, 1967
Fr. Rodrigo says:
The event occurred in Sevilla on January 17, 1967.
The protagonists are the nurse María Josefa Caballero, who possesses a rosary she received as a gift from Conchita of Garabandal, and Carmen García Geraldo, wife of Hernández-Pinzón.
Carmen
tiene un hijo de 8 años, incurable desde su nacimiento, pero de quien ha dicho
Conchita a sus padres en Garabandal que sanará el día del Milagro, según le ha
dicho la Virgen.
El
domingo 15 de enero, a la 11:30 de la noche, una hermana de la señora
Hernández-Pinzón llama por teléfono a la Srta. María Josefa y le dice haber
recibido carta de una señora gran amiga y algo pariente, residente en
Norteamérica con su marido, médico psiquiatra, ambos españoles, en la que le
pide oraciones y algo besado por la Santísima Virgen de Garabandal en la que
tanta fe tiene, pues su hijito, único varón, de tres años, padece cáncer en la
garganta de pésimo carácter que no se ha podido operar y tratan de reducirlo
por el cobalto para ver si así será operable a vida o muerte.
Carmen had a son who was eight years old and had had an incurable illness since his birth. In Garabandal, Conchita has told this boy’s parents that he would be cured on the day of the Miracle, according to what the Virgin said.
Sunday, January 5 at 11:30 at night, Mrs. Hernández-Pinzón’s
sister called María Josefa on the phone and said that she had received a letter
from a good friend and relative who was living in

no tenerlo ellos, le pide a María Josefa algo besado por la Virgen para
mandarlo. María Josefa piensa que sólo tiene un Rosario que la regaló Conchita
en una de sus visitas a Garabandal, pero, como es su mayor tesoro, la cuesta
desprenderse de él y piensa en separarle una cuenta para mandarla.
Con
este pensamiento sale el 17 por la mañana a Misa y, oída ésta, se va a una
joyería a que la separen la cuenta delante de ella.
El
joyero, puesto el rosario en el mostrador, le pregunta qué cuenta quiere
separar y conviene con María Josefa que la cuenta que está junto al Avemaría,
entre ésta y la Cruz, uniendo las cuatro restantes con el Avemaría. Así se disimulaba más la falta.
Since this woman didn’t have anything, she asked María Josefa for something kissed by the Virgin to send them. María Josefa only had one Rosary that Conchita had given her during one of her visits to Garabandal, but since it was her greatest treasure, she didn’t want to give it away, so she thought about removing a bead and sending that.
With this thought, she left on January 17 and went to Mass in the morning. Afterwards, she went to a jewelry store where they would separate a bead in front of her.
The jeweler put the Rosary on the counter and asked which
bead she wanted to remove. María Josefa said the one next the Hail Mary,
between that one and the Cross, thus connecting the remaining four beads with
the Hail Mary. This way it
would disguise the absence.
Separa
pues el joyero esa cuenta con la argollita que la unía al Avemaría y el trocito
de cadena que la unía a la cuenta siguiente, engarzando el resto de las cuentas
con la Cruz al Avemaría. Todo esto se hizo delante de María Josefa y ésta
recogió lo separado en una cajita.
A
continuación, se va a casa de las amigas y abre la caja para darles la cuenta;
entonces la preguntan de dónde la ha quitado y María Josefa coge el Rosario y
las dice:
─ “De aquí.”
This jeweler separated this bead with the ring that connected to the Hail Mary and the piece of chain that joined the next bead, threading the rest of the beads with the Cross next to the Hail Mary. He did all of this in front of María Josefa, and she put the separated bead in a little box.
After this, she went to her friends’ house and opened the box to give them the bead; then they asked her where she had taken it from, and María Josefa took the Rosary and told them:
─ “From here.”
Pero
ante los ojos de las tres aparece el Rosario íntegro, con las cinco cuentas,
como antes, más la cuenta que tenía separada en sus manos la señorita. Cayeron
inmediatamente de rodillas y rezaron el Rosario llenas de emoción.
Después,
más tranquilas, cuenta la señora de Hernández-Pinzón que ella al recibir la
carta de América, sobrecogida por la noticia, pues se quieren mucho las
familias, dice, en un arranque de maravilloso heroísmo en una madre, que si la
curación de su sobrino americano ha de traer más almas a Dios que la curación
de su hijito Ramoncito, que cambia la curación del hijo por la del sobrinillo.
But the Rosary appeared whole before their eyes, with five beads, like before; plus the bead that had been removed and was in the lady’s hands. They immediately fell on their knees and prayed the Rosary, full of emotion.
Later, when they were more tranquil, Mrs. Hernández-Pinzón
told them that when she received the letter from

reacciona enseguida:
─ “Que va a ser de mi
entonces, Madre Mía, ya que la curación de mi hijito es la que me hace más
llevadera la cruz. Pero yo no puedo, no quiero, Madre mía, volverme atrás. ¡No
quiero!, ¡no quiero! Pero tú, Madre mía, puedes curar a los dos. ¡Cura a los
dos! Y si lo vas a hacer, dame una prueba.”
Se pregunta el mismo día 17 en tiendas de Rosarios, a Sacerdotes, etc.,
si hay rosarios con seis cuentas entre la Cruz y el Avemaría, y todos contestan
que no.
Then she
immediately reacted:
─ “What is going to happen to me then, Mother, since the healing of my son is the only thing that makes lighter my cross. But I can’t, I do not wish to take it back. I do not want to! I do not want to! But you, Mother, can cure both of them. Heal both of them! And if you are going to do it, give me proof.” She inquired on that very same day of January 17 at religious stores where they sold rosaries and also with some priests: if there are Rosaries with six beads between the Cross and the Hail Mary, and they all answered no.
El
18 por la mañana se va María Josefa con la señora de Hernández Pinzón al joyero
que separó la cuenta, le enseñan el rosario, igualmente completo como
anteriormente se decía, y le refieren lo sucedido; y él, muy impresionado al ver
el Rosario como le tuvo en la mano antes de quitarle la cuenta, se queda
pensando y dice:
─ Me dijo Ud. que este Rosario está besado por
la Santísima Virgen de Garabandal, ¿verdad? ¡Pues pienso en un milagro!
On the morning of January 18, María Josefa went with Mrs. Hernández-Pinzón to the jeweler who had separated the bead. They showed him the Rosary, which was as complete as before, and they told him what had happened. He was very impressed when he saw the Rosary which he had held in his hand before he had removed the bead and he thought for awhile, then said:
─ You told me that this Rosary
has been kissed by the Most Holy Virgin of Garabandal, isn’t it so? Well I think it is a miracle!
Y
les dio testimonio escrito de lo que había hecho en el Rosario delante de María
Josefa. La cuenta que quitó estaba allí puesta y sin embargo, a su vez, la
tenía María Josefa tal como él la sacó. Esto sirvió de prueba también para la
señora de Hernández-Pinzón tal como se lo había pedido a la Santísima Virgen.

He gave them written testimony of what he had done with the Rosary in front of María Josefa. The bead they removed was there, and nevertheless it was also in possession of María Josefa just as he had removed it. This also served as the proof for which Mrs. Hernández-Pinzón had asked the Most Holy Virgin.
